Streaming Platforms, Instant Consumption and Transformations in the Animation Industry in Latin America (2020-2025)
Main Article Content
Abstract
This research aimed to analyze the impact of streaming platforms on the animation industry, considering the quality of productions and the working conditions of animators, within the framework of the debate on a possible boom or decline in the sector. A qualitative, phenomenological approach was employed to understand audience perceptions and their context. Data was collected from audiovisual consumption statistics in Chile, critical and audience opinions, and the work experiences of animators from 2020 onward. The results indicate the coexistence of innovation, especially in 3D animation productions, alongside stylistic standardization in other works. Furthermore, the use of social media and streaming services has broadened immediate access to content, increasing the demand for productions. This increase has generated a heavier workload, with adverse effects on the health and well-being of animators.
