Logistics Model for Ground Freight Transportation to Improve the Competitiveness of Colombian Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises

Abstract

Road freight transportation is one of the most common and popular forms of freight transportation around the world. In many countries, including Colombia, road transport is the main means of moving goods and products from production centers to consumption points and foreign markets. Road freight transportation is a dynamic and constantly evolving industry, driven by technological advances and changing market needs. Therefore, the research aims to design a logistics management model for land freight transport that allows promoting the competitiveness and internationalization of small and medium-sized enterprises through the evaluation of the logistical barriers that currently have an impact, reducing the competitiveness of this type of transport, as well as to validate the critical points in the main logistics corridors through which they transit, to finally determine the variables that occur in the main logistics corridors from Bogotá to the main ports of Colombia, using an exploratory methodology with a mixed approach in two phases: A first qualitative with primary actors and a second quantitative analyzing data and perceptions of the main actors in the chain, using a survey as a data collection instrument to obtain insights directly from those involved, being able to through a business model proposal that allows contributing to the solution of the problem in an effective way involving all those affected and the value chains that are involved. Finally, proposing a business model that provides an effective solution to the problem, involving all those affected, and the value chains involved.
