Challenges for sport clubs administrative management in Ecuadorian context

Abstract

The sports industry evolution demands a permanent reading of society’s behavioral changes, especially those related to its consumption habits. The world has transported the professional sport towards a production logic that invites to conceive the sports clubs into enterprises, even though they are not. For an adequate administration of these institutions, the sports managers influence forced to route projects that have to pay priority attention to the fan; since we find ourselves in an entertainment oversupply age and leisure alternatives, it is evident the convenience of anticipating to the predictable movements of these markets. The investigation reveals how the sociodemographic profiles, the level of instruction and the economic incomes factor, determine tendencies in the sports customs and affections of the 3.161 participants of the sample. The fact that 4,8 out of ten people in Pichincha (Ecuador) declare themselves as Liga Deportiva Universitaria fans marks a guideline for the sports management, not underestimating that also the other traditional clubs are the ones that still stand out in the audience and the consumption environment, explaining in this document even why these fans have declared themselves as followers of those clubs.
