Sites of Memory A Ride Around Luis Carlos López Poetry in Cartagena de Indias Historic Centre

Abstract

The purpose of this article is to establish a relationship between Luis Carlos López as a poet, his work and influence in the Cartagena society. For this purpose, the methodology used responds to a qualitative approach based on the visit to diffe-rent commemorative monuments erected for the preservation of the poet’s me-mory, which are located in the historic center of the city of Cartagena de Indias and surrounding areas, as well as the review of institutional spaces that have become promoters of his legacy. The research allowed identifying the distribution of the existing plaques in the historical center, as well as the institutions that dedicated to the promotion of literary culture, promoting the reading of the poetry of this poet, constituting true places of memory.
