Abstract

This article focused on a literature review focused on Burnout syndrome in teachers. The purpose of the study was to analyze research contributions that contribute to the conceptualization of Burnout syndrome and its impact on teachers during the pandemic period generated by covid-19. For this purpose, it conducted a detailed bibliographic search in secondary sources and databases with original and validated scientific articles were considered. Based on the above, the unquestionable psychological and social impact of this pandemic was visualized; since the transfer from a traditional education modality to a totally virtual one, generated drastic changes in the teaching-learning process and the situation faced by several teachers was exhausting; since the saturation and emotional exhaustion were to a certain extent uncontrollable, leading to the deterioration of their mental health. This was determined through the analysis of the burnout dimensions: emotional and mental exhaustion, depersonalization, and personal fulfillment. It concluded that this syndrome seriously affected teachers’ work performance, bounded to access intervention programs provided by professionals specialized in the subject.
