History

Designio. Investigación en diseño gráfico y estudios de la imagen is a scientific publication in the fields of graphic design and image studies, published biannually (April-September and October-March) since 2019 by the Faculty of Engineering and Related Sciences of the Fundación Universitaria San Mateo.

The name Design evokes the Latin bases of the word design that is framed in the interpretation of the sign, the act of designating, but above all that of imagining.

Thematic areas

Designio. Investigación en diseño gráfico y estudios de la imagen carries out scientific publications aimed at professionals, researchers, teachers, scholarship holders and postgraduate students in the following subject areas:

• Theory of art and image
• The photograph
• The architecture
• The art
• Cultural studies

• Movie studios
• Management and marketing
• The media
• Philosophy or museography (interdisciplinary reflection, with a critical and committed perspective)

Open access

Designio. Research in Graphic Design and Image Studies is an open access journal committed to the free circulation of academic knowledge in the fields of design, art, and image studies.

The journal adopts the Diamond Open Access model, which means that:

• No submission, processing, or publication fees (APCs) are charged to authors.
• All content is immediately and freely available to readers.

This model is made possible by the institutional support of the San Mateo University Foundation, which covers the publishing costs as part of its commitment to scientific dissemination and equitable access to knowledge.

Use and Reuse of Content

The content published in Designio is distributed under a Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-NoDerivatives 4.0 International License, which permits its consultation, download, and use for academic and non-commercial purposes, provided that proper attribution is given to the authors and the journal.
